Morkel inspires incredible Delhi win

Delhi Daredevils 152 for 6 (Sehwag 63, Pankaj 2-25) beat Rajasthan Royals 151 for 3 (Rahane 84*, Morkel 1-26) by one run

Morne Morkel bowled a sensational penultimate over to turn a straightforward chase from Rajasthan Royals on its head and snatch victory for Delhi Daredevils. IPL 5 is currently in full swing and we decided to look into some of the interesting batting stats that have emerged:

Leading run scorers:  Rahane has had a great start to the tournament and is currently the leading run scorer with 332 runs after 8 games.  Francios Du Plessis, A South African, is currently number two on the list after a good run with the Chennai Super Kings. He has 302 runs after 8 matches and averages 43.14. Shah (278 runs), Gayle (250) and Uthappa (250) are in the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions. Gayle is the only man on the list that has played 7 games, the other batsmen played 8. Big Sports’ JP Duminy is averaging 78.00 after 3 games and 3 innings.

Highest scores: 
Rahane and Pietersen are the only two centurions in the tournament thus far. Rahane scored his 103* off 60 balls against Bangalore. The very impressive knock included 12x4’s and 5x6’s. Pietersen scored his 103* off 64 balls and saved the Delhi Daredevils after they had a rough start versus the Deccan Chargers in Delhi. He hit 6x4’s and 9x6’s and no bowler looked safe from his onslaught. Rahane also has the 3rd highest score after missing out on his first ton of IPL 5 by just two runs.  This 98 came off just 66 balls and included 16 fours and 1 six. Sehwag and Gayle are in the 4th and 5th position after their innings ended on Australia’s version of the nelson - 87* and 87 respectively.   Read More...
